Covid-19 Travel Restrictions are being lifted. Now Americans are flocking to Mexico
Mexico has reopened and become the top destination for American travelers looking to escape and catch a break from the recent pandemic. Mexico is taking this opportunity seriously. In fact, Hotels and resorts are currently operating at only 20 to 30 percent of their regular capacities to enable proper social distancing, which is being regulated throughout public spaces like restaurants, pools, beaches, fitness centers, lobbies, elevators and breezeways. (travelpulse.com) Additionally, There are people cleaning the public areas constantly, and guests are asked to step on sanitizing mats upon entering a new area.
These resorts have always been spacious, but with limited capacity it may feel like you are completely alone for periods of time, which makes this the perfect time to travel… if you’re not afraid to hop on a plane.
Here is our list of top 5 post pandemic resorts in the Cancun region of Mexico.
El Dorado Maroma
The first overwater bungalows to hit Mexico are El Dorado Maroma ‘s biggest claim to fame, but there’s more to this adults-only resort than its stilted luxury villas. We’re talking an overwater restaurant just made for sunset dinners and a Nay Spa, whose treatments borrow from Mayan healing techniques and use ingredients (Maroma sea moss, for example) sourced from the sea. That it all sits on one of the prettiest beaches anywhere is the icing on the proverbial cake. (jetsetter.com)
El Dorado Royale
While the adults-only El Dorado Royale is arguably the best in the Karisma Hotels portfolio, El Dorado Casitas Royale , its hotel within the hotel, takes it a step further. In addition to the main property’s bars, restaurants, pools, and spa, you’ll also have run of the private section’s swim-up bars and restaurants (there are seven each), which are reserved exclusively for Casitas guests. Once you’ve had your fill, retreat to one of its 171 suites, which each come with their own outdoor shower, covered balcony, and reserved thatch-roof bed on the beach. (jetsetter.com)
Excellence Riviera Cancun
The Excellence is an enormous adults-only all-inclusive resort that caters to couples who want to stay busy. You’ll find six pools , five hot tubs, a spa with beachfront treatment huts, a huge fitness center, and even a jogging trail. On-site activities abound here, with everything from Spanish lessons to private yacht excursions, and there are over 20 bars and restaurants, with no reservations required. And while guests at this busy all-inclusive may end up spending most of their time taking advantage of the extensive facilities, the rooms aren’t too shabby either, with marble bathrooms and jetted tubs. Some suites even feature private rooftop plunge pools. (oyster.com)

Azul Beach Resort Resort Riviera Cancun
If you’re looking for a family friendly location, Azul Beach has gone the extra mile to make this resort really attractive to the little ones, but that shouldn’t distract us from the overall quality of the service provided. A very solid all inclusive program that makes kids and adults feel at home, in a tropical but luxury atmosphere. (fodors.com)
Excellence Playa Muejeres
If you need a break from your wily brood and let’s be honest, who doesn’t, every once in a while? it’s down to Excellence Playa Mujeres you go. This adults-only, all-inclusive resort north of Cancn racks up rave reviews for its service, which begins with a cold towel and cocktail greeting much appreciated when it’s hot and humid and continues at drop-of-a-hat speed. The place has plenty of beach real estate, where you can float aimlessly for an hour or two, or latch onto an icy cold margarita via beachside service. (cntraveler.com)
